Information For Patients

Frequently Asked Questions

The Interventional Psychiatry Program may be appropriate for individuals who continue to experience significant symptoms despite standard treatments. Our services and research studies are designed for patients with complex or treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions who are interested in advanced, evidence-based interventions delivered in a specialized hospital setting. Eligibility varies by service and study, and participation in research is always voluntary. A member of our clinical or research team will review your history and discuss available options to help determine the most appropriate next steps.

The Interventional Psychiatry Program is located at 17 Cardinal Carter Wing at 30 Bond Street, St. Michael’s Hospital in downtown Toronto, within the Mental Health Outpatient Clinic. Most clinical services and in-person research visits take place at this site. Some studies and digital programs may include remote or home-based components, depending on the specific service or trial. Location details and visit requirements will be provided by the clinical or research team during screening and scheduling.

Additional mental health resources, educational materials, and support services are available through St. Michael’s Hospital and our affiliated programs. These may include patient education materials, community supports, crisis resources, and information on navigating mental health care in Ontario. If you are unsure which resources are most appropriate for your needs, a member of our clinical or research team can help guide you and provide recommendations.
